The Duo Kim Versteynen & Tim Finoulst is a collaboration between two sensitive and seasoned musicians in the most transparent way possible: voice and guitar.
It is a very intimistic project, though a delightfully enchanting one. Kim and Tim tear away from the traditional soloist – accompanist roles and work their way towards each other through interaction and improvisation: music in the purest sense with loads of creativity. They combine the warm sounds of their instruments with an abundance of personal interpretation and empathy in a wide-ranging repertoire of original and other compositions.
The accolades, the albums
On July 21st 2013, they won the Concours Des Jeunes Talents at the Dinant (B) Leffe Jazz Nights festival. The jury praised the audacity of the project, the quality of the musicians, their soberness and intimacy, the way they adapt popsongs to the jazz tradition and their stage presence. Signs, Signals And Sirens, released on September 18th, 2026, is the new chapter from jazz duo Kim Versteynen & Tim Finoulst — an album that delicately balances original compositions, jazz standards, and unexpectedly reimagined pop and folk songs. This second album remains unmistakably Kim & Tim, while revealing a deeper sense of personal, emotional, and artistic growth.
Each track is a sign along the way: a whisper, a warning, a guiding signal. The songs follow the rhythm of a life’s journey, where choices, coincidences, and inner voices intersect.
With warm vocal lyricism and subtle guitar work, Kim and Tim tell a story that is both deeply personal and universally resonant — music that gently points the way while leaving space for each listener’s own interpretation.
